Child safety on the internet

The number of internet users in Ukraine is growing rapidly. Social networking sites are leading in the number of new users joining them. About 31% of all Ukrainian internet users visit these sites.

 

According to a research conducted in 27 EU countries by Eurobarometer in 2008, 75% of children aged 6 to 17 were active internet users. In Ukraine, such research was started only in 2009 by the members of the Coalition for Internet Child Safety. The coalition was founded in 2008 upon the initiative of Microsoft Ukraine. The data that has been gathered is alarming: the majority of children and their teachers and parents are not aware of potential threats to children on the internet and of the ways of protection against them.

THE EMOTIONAL DANGERS OF PREMATURE SEXUAL INVOLVEMENT

In discussions of teen sex, much is said about the dangers of pregnancy and disease—but far less about the emotional hazards.  And that’s a problem, because the destructive psychological consequences of temporary sexual relationships are very real.  Being aware of them can help a young person make and stick to the decision to avoid premature sexual involvement.
